Russ was able to screetch around the track and handbrake turn the car into the tightest of spaces, the car was not modified in any way other than the fitting of a "fly-off" handbrake.
The world renowned stunt driver Russ Swift was on hand to give a display of his unique brand of driving skills in putting a MINI thorugh its paces. Russ having been a stunt driver during the filming of "The Italian Job" was able to demonstrate the agility possessed by the brand and impressed the assembled crowd immensly.
Despite the damp weather on the evening, Russ gave a full demonstartion of the skills for which he has become renowned, even managing to get a couple of willing volunteers to ride side-saddle!
Gordon had checked out the insurance policies but fortunately and due to Russ's expertise they were able to be kept in the cupboard!
We were able to borrow this beautiful 1430cc MINI Cooper "S" which was kindly supplied by Mr Andy Candlish of Ilkley. Built in 1966 this beautiful little car with its twin SU carburettors and big bore exhaust provided a brilliant centrepiece for the showrooom launch.
